Molds persist here in Southwest Florida all around us, both inside and outside our buildings you will find many varieties that inhabit our warm and humid environment. We are currently aware of over a 1000 species of mold in the United States and these species thrive in any place they encounter suitable levels of organic material and moisture.
If you live in Manatee County or Sarasota County, you understand that the warm, humid atmosphere combined with abundant flora makes the area an ideal environment for molds to thrive. In an indoor space, mold can reproduce and spread quickly on any moist organic materials, this can include sheet rock, wood, ceiling tiles, and even your furniture and clothing.
Exposure to these toxic molds can cause a variety of issues with you indoor air quality (IAQ) including allergies, respiratory issues, eye irritation, and coughing. You should be aware that an active mold infestation can also lead to severe damage to your home or property
• Is moisture intrusion visible?
• Are you noticing strange odors?
• Are you experiencing odd, unexplained or irritating health symptoms?
Each person is affected or experiences mold toxicity in different ways. Some may experience persistent headaches and migraines, while others shortness of breath. Brain fog, fatigue, memory loss and even depression can all be signs of mold exposure.
At Tropical Sun Home Inspection, our mold testing process involves a complete assessment of your indoor environment, starting with a visual inspection of the entire home or property utilizing an infrared camera as well as a moisture meter. Following a visual inspection, our inspector will determine the amounts and locations of air samples required and these samples will then be analyzed by our partners at ProLab. ProLab located in Southeast Florida is an accredited laboratory able to determine quantities and types of mold spores present. Once results are produced, (72 hours) you will receive a laboratory report and a comprehensive summary of the results as quickly as the next day. In the case of elevated mold results, our inspector will make recommendations regarding the best next steps you should take to resolve.
